ADM SERIES – ADM 15

The ADM15 is a 3 way active digital processed mainmonitor for high performance applications.
By their dimension the ADM15 is an ideal replacement for Genelec 1038 or similar wall-mounted
monitors. It can be utilized as the sole reference monitor in professional recording, broadcast
or mastering studios. The signal processing like crossover, equalisation, time alignment a.s.o is
completely in the digital domain. The linking to the recording environment happens directly to the
digital signal source or by our stacked Sigma-Delta-Technology with a 27 bit and 64 oversampling
converter with dynamic range of 130dB. An internal processing with 32 bit floating point ensures an
internal dynamic range of 1500 dB. An additional KSdigital Patent (Pat Nr. 198 23 110) for signals
lower than 24 bits processes these signal on a higher level for the internal signal processing. So the
user has a fully analog workflow without any digital limitations. Five EQ’s for a quick manual adaptation,
as well as the possibility to calibrate the FIR filters for the listening area to build a individual
setup for your control room. This can be done either on the loudspeaker itself or cableconnected
with the Ksdigital Remote Control RC-100 or by our webserver-based software called FIRControl.
The MOSFET powerstages, with hand-selected audio-transistors, transport the sound with a slow
rate of 80 V/us and 150W for highrange, 200W for the midrange and 500W for the 15“ bass driver.

ADM Series – ADM W0

The ADM WO is developed with regard to design and functionality as subbass extension for the ADM 20. With a transfer from 25 to 100Hz, the ADM W0 represents a real ubwoofer, which cannot be compared with conventional subwoofers, because it is designed as real third way. With a sound called „sec or brut“ guarantees in the team with the ADM 20 an interception-enjoyment of topmost quality. Two 10“-speakers transfer high volumelevels with an exact impulse down to the deepest frequencies. The level control in 4dB-steps with fine level tuning for room correction make an optimal adjustment possible. The remote control unit allows the full control over the whole setup, from stereo with ADM 20 until 5.1 with many other ADM 20 and ADM W0. Together with the DRC+ you switch between several setups with one knob and comfortablely control the gain, the input (analog or digital), woofer modes a.s.o.

The ADM10 has been specially designed as a main monitor for the mid field.In particular, the ADM10 can be utilized as the sole reference monitor in a professional recording, broadcast or mastering studio. Irrespective of whether it is a stand-alone unit or in an integrated setup, its digital equalizer guarantees optimum control in the listening area. The user has 5 EQ’s for a quick manual adaptation, as well as the possibility to calibrate the FIR filters for the listening area. ADM Series- ADM 20

The ADM 20 represents a complete revision of the very successful ADM 2, which was the first loudspeaker with a digital equalizer worldwide. Naturally we have retained the valued neutrality in transmission behaviour as well as the now legendary frequency and phase characteristics. The specially developed and patented FIRTEC ™ filter technology allows for corrections during the course of the sound emission. This means a flattening in amplitude as well as in the phase frequency characteristic. On top of this, the precision is increased with a higher sampling rate combined with a whole series of parameters and their different possible configurations which are accessible to the user. For example, these include three parametric peak filters to facilitate the exact adaptation to the equipment positioning, low and high shelving, delay as well as phase and mono-test functions. At the same time, the FIRTEC ™ filtering not only compensates for any inadequacies of the drivers, but also considers the whole monitor system including cabinet, amplifier etc. At the analog input, the signal is converted with a 27 bit ADC (gain staging method). The digital AES3 input works with up to 32 bit directly on the 32 bit floating point DSP with the FIRTEC ™ filter, the digital, linear phase, differential cross-over unit and overload protector of the drivers. An optional hard- or software remote control facilitates the adjustment of the volume to the required level or setting up the peak filter in order to reduce the spatial responsiveness for roommodes or other variables.

ADM Series- ADM 22

The ADM22 represents a complete upgrade of the legendary ADM 20, the first digital, linear phase studio monitor worldwide. In this upgrade, all important reproduction functions of the ADM20 were taken over and fitted to the new cabinet. Therefore the ADM22 also processes the signal digitally with its own DSP platform. Our patented FIRTEC system filters ensure a linear phase, and a correctly timed reproduction across the entire frequency range. The wave guide eliminates the effect of the cabinet edges and linearizes not only the processing of the digital signal but also the frequency characteristics. The 1” high frequency ring emitters ensure low distortion even at high volumes. The 8” carbon chassis (made in Germany) with its optimized stiff but low weight membrane (F1 material), prevents a break-up into partial oscillations at high volumes, so that the compact ADM22 represents a full value monitor for all applications. The 24 bit / 192 Khz DA converter supplies the analogue output stage with its special audio 180W (RMS) transistors. The optional digital input (bypassing the DA converter) facilitates a direct connection to the digital work station or master machine. Three freely configurable peak-EQs as well as high and low shelving controls permit an optimized adjustment to the listening position in a studio. These as well as all other parameters, such as volume or delay can be comfortably adjusted with optional FIRTEC control software either from a computer or with the hardware remote control RC-100.

ADM Series- ADM 25

The ADM25 is conceived as a stand speaker to be set up directly behind the mixing desk or the work station – work place. Both the emitting properties of the chassis working in the ADM25 and the acoustic baffle of the stand casing tilted at 5° allow excellent use of the ADM25 in the near and midfield area. A D’Apollito arrangement with very strongly coupled sound centres of the individual chassis, connected with the high range wave guide concentrate the energy in the area 90° x 60° (H x V). In this way the monitor room is less stimulated and therefore control is significantly increased. The acoustic baffle tilted at 5° decreases reflections on the desk or work space and prevents unwanted excessive presence. The FIRTEC™ technology linearises frequency and phase response at the listening place and therefore ensures a tonally and temporally correct, neutral playback of the acoustic signal. The freely adjustable parametric EQ’s as well as high and low shelving filters allow a precise adjustment to the set up position and the acoustics of the listening place. This complete package ensures true to detail, time correct information at the work place of the engineer.

ADM Series- ADM 30

The ADM 30 is an extremely compact power packet, that despite its very modest dimensions, produces a very noticeable sound pressure. Quote: “the pulse response is phenomenally good indeed; for example a bass drum sounds almost like it’s live … the acoustic pattern fans out perfectly, similarly the lower frequencies …“ (Martin Hömberg, Audio Professional). Equipped with a DMC™ controlled, 8 inch speaker with a carbon fibre membrane and a special cone which was specifically designed for this speaker, the ADM30 is faithful to KS Digital’s philosophy of high impulse fidelity with the lowest possible level of distortion. At the cross-over frequency, the directivity of the sound from the cone of the tweeter has been optimally matched to that of the 8” driver. An optional D/A converter enables the direct connection to a digital workstation or a mixer console.

Linear Phase Reproduction using DMC ™ Membrane Control. By virtue of their physical characteristics, all loudspeaker drivers produce errors when reproducing music signals. These errors may include decaying oscillations or delayed build up etc. These can affect, amongst others, the characteristics of amplitude, phase or frequency which is why one tries to minimize their affects with active filtering. Additional filters in the signal path however, distort the phase characteristic of the speaker and therefore reduce the impulse fidelity of the reproduction. The solution comes from a completely different approach to the problem of correcting the frequency characteristic: DMC ™ Membrane Control.

This system controls the movement of the membrane so that it exactly follows the music signal. Technically speaking, a loudspeaker driver is a special linear motor. As with every linear motor, speed, acceleration and distance travelled can be measured. As the speed and direction of  movement of the membrane changes to the rhythm of the music, its exact position is being recorded by a sensor in the controlled driver. The values are fed into the analog controller where they are compared to the simultaneously measured values of the music signal. Only any differences to the expected values are transmitted to the output stage for correction. In this way it canbe continuously guaranteed that the membrane only moves exactly in the way that is necessary to reproduce the signal input. In this way, decaying oscillations and other errors can be ruled out. With sound travelling at 330 meters/sec and the corrective electronics working at almost the speed of light, the errors are corrected even during their formation with zero latency. This basic Principle however, means the very finest of attention to detail in its implementation and the design of sensors and active components and naturally requires the knowledge of the theoretical context, experience and feel. This effort is rewarded with a neutral, pure musical reproduction, a linear amplitude and (!) phase frequency characteristics down to the very lowest of frequencies without (!) latency times.

ADM Series- ADM B2

As a subwoofer with an integrated mono crossover, the ADM B2/3 in combination with the C5 Tiny or the AM 30, offers an extremely powerful bass extension. The 10” speaker works within a flow optimized bass reflex cabinet with antiparallel walls that suppresses oscillations and reduces modes. This feature permits an extended bass frequency range to 25Hz/30Hz within a compact cabinet. A mono crossover with high pass satellite outputs (full range operational) relieves the satellites from low bass. The pentagon basses also play perfectly as LFE in a professional 5.1 listening system. Conceived as active, full range subwoofers in a compact pentagon cabinet enables the ADM B2/3 to provide full control across the entire bass spectrum. For the first time, high sound pressure is available at very low frequencies due to the flow optimized bass reflex, computer simulation assisted design of the pentagon cabinets. The transmission range reaches (linear) from 25Hz/30 Hz to the crossover frequency of the connected satellite speakers. A mono crossover collects the bass components of the input signal and feeds them to the 400/200Watt PWM-Amp of the ADM BX. The speakers connected to the stereo output receive the appropriate line-level signal above 80 Hz. Therefore the ADM B2/3 is very suitable as a bass extension / support of the entire Coax-Line series. A higher requirement for sound pressure can be met with two ADM B2/3’s in connection with an ADM30, resulting in a full value 3-way active loudspeaker combination of the highest precision.
